2025-12-25: Christmas Day
Not Alone in an Empty House
It began, as every day did, the best possible way. Comfortable and warm, asleep in bed. There was no one else in the house, but I didn’t feel alone. Yesterday was full of family time, and I knew I’d be in touch with people.
I had a relaxing morning writing and doing chores. My favorite moment came when I stopped to take a break. I plopped down on the couch and texted my entire contact list to wish them a Merry Christmas. Not all in one group text. And not everyone, but everyone I see at least a couple times a year.
It was fun to think of all the people in my life. It was fun when people replied. I went back and texted another round. Some people I haven’t contacted in years. I got an even better response from them.
I also cleaned up a few contacts I don’t need. Travel light.
We wish we had a more fulfilling social life in meatspace. We can start by feeding and watering all of the contacts we already have. The more direct the contact, the better. Holidays are a great excuse. The reality is, we don’t need an excuse. We can do it anytime.
My daughter was in and out a few times during the day. I also ventured out to Kwik Trip for some food. With that and the pebbling I did via text, that was enough social time for me.
My Precious
I got the Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring Trick Game for Christmas.
I haven’t played yet, so I can’t give you a play-through or review, but this game looks super cool. The mechanics seem simple, it has a story progression element for replayability, and who doesn’t love a beautifully executed LOTR theme?
It scored an impressive 7.9 rating on Board Game Geek.
